Around the Traps ... with THE FERRET
07:55, Monday, 5 June 2006 Sydney - Monday - June 5: (RWE Australian Business News) - ************************* Who said the dotcom bubble had burst? WOTIF.COM (WTF) joined the lists amid all the buying fervour of a 1970 nickel stock. Issued at $2 a share, the stock soared to $3.40 and closed at $3.32. That's a stag profit of 66 per cent, a windfall you don't see too often. The internet accommodation information provider has an impressive record of rising earnings and was just about killed in the rush for shares in the float. Its prospectus forecasts EPS of 7.7c for the 2006 and 9.4c in 2007. At $3.32 buyers were stumping up a forward p/e of 43 times for this year and 35 times the next. These are stunning numbers. ***** It's interesting that a website expert such as Wotif issues such user-unfriendly statements to the ASX news site. The company's financial reports for the past few years are in fax form, some of them on their side. It looks a bit third-world. ***** Ash on the email is certainly stunned by Wotif. "What a massive overreaction in this stock," he says. "Everybody looks desperate, thus pushing this stock way over what it's worth. "I think the stock will be between $1 and $1.50 in one year or less." Oh, Ash, too unkind ... ***** -------------------- I confirm that am not a licensed investment adviser , or have any formal training, to give investment advice. WTF is so much like the net tech days, directors holding must of the stock so its really tight so they can open on massive premiums. WTF opened around $400million cap TVL is capped at $30million (Newscorp holds 19.9% now). TVL also opened at a massive premium $3 or so, its a survivor, having survived the net tech crash and managed not to issue many shares, its almost making a profit now with new management and backers. WEB is capped at $90million (HWT is a major holder) FLT is capped at $$931 million but they have store presence as well... -------------------- I confirm that am not a licensed investment adviser , or have any formal training, to give investment advice. Same industry as QAN, but going to have double the p:e of QAN if they can actually meet the forecast. Might be a great short candidate later down the track
