Am still on the trail for a suitable software platform offering Volume Charts.

Did download the latest version of QuoteTracker, yes it did have a Vol Chart, but unfortunately has a minimum of 5 seconds refresh rates. I need real time data for the short term set-ups that I trade.

I have been told eSignal has the option of volume charts and real time data. has anyone had experience with eSignal and would like to offer opinion on this platform ???

Thanks, Mistagear

Thanks TM,

Will download the latest QT, as you said, it does seem to now offer what I'm looking for.

Much appreciated.

And Merry Christmas and healthy, happy and prosperous New Year to you too.

A lot has been advanced in QT since you last had the experience. Attached is a 'snapshot' of TRF. It is a 10 day chart on a 10 minute display with a new candle only being created on a 10,000 share transaction as the criteria for a "new" candle being created. Seems to me this is what you are looking for.

QT is a USA creation.

Other than this offering I can only suggest 'Insight Tader' platform might have what you are looking for. The vendor/creator is domiciled in Sydney if that is of any comfort.

I do not have any affiliation with the vendors of the products mentioned and I only offer these suggestions in the cause social generosity.

Thanks TM,

I did use QT a few years back and pretty sure they only have time based charts. I do appreciate you taking time to respond.

What I'm looking for is an ASX based chart platform which records a new candle (O,H,L,C) based only on a pre determined amount of transactions. Unlike a time based chart which records a new candle (O,H,L,C) on a pre determined amount of time.

If I had a 10000 volume chart and a sell parcel of 15000 shares is transacted, the chart plots one complete candle showing the O,H,L,C at one price point and then starts a new candle with the last 5000 from the single transaction. The second candle will not complete and a third candle start to plot until another 5000 shares are transacted, no matter how long that takes

The advantage of volume based over time based becomes apparent when big players are working the market and it is easier to see when major buying or selling is taking place and in which direction. It is much harder for the elephants to hide their tracks on a volume chart as they so easily do on even a 1 minute time chart.
I already use volume charts with a US based charting platform "Ninja Trader" for Futures and Currency trading, unfortunately Ninja do not cover ASX equities. Volume charts are by far, my preferred trading tool.

Thanks again for your interest and Merry Christmas, Mistagear

Hello Mistagear,

I'm not quite certain this is what you are looking for, so you will have to see for yourself.

QuoteTracker has the ability to display volume from the "X" axis at price points.

This function can be sourced from a 'right click' on the chart and clicking the appropriate section from the drop down menu.

cheers from ...... TM

Hi,

Is anyone aware of a charting platform which offers charts based on volume rather than time, for Australian Equities ?
I do have a package for overseas markets but have not been able to locate anything locally.

It would be very much appreciated if someone could help !

Cheers, Mistagear
