Your username/password is stored in a file called a cookie and sometimes firewall/web browser software has been configured with the setting "disable cookies"
What is a Cookie?
A cookie is a file created by an Internet site to store information on your computer, such as your preferences when visiting that site. When you visit a site that uses cookies, the site might ask your browser to place one or more cookies on your hard disk.
Later, when you return to the site, your browser sends back the cookies that belong to the site. This is why, for example, this Sharescene.com remembers your username/password. A cookie saves that information so you don't have to enter username/password every webpage load (to access Sharescene you must allow cookies for "sharescene.com")
